Jennifer Sanders,
MA Clinical Pastoral Counseling, National Christian Counseling Association My Experience, Education, and Christian Counseling Practice: As a young woman in 1993, I began working with youth and college-aged students as a youth pastor and then for a large global non-profit organization for young adults. This naturally lent itself to spiritual advising as my students, staff, parents, and co-workers would come to me for advice as they navigated life. Mentorship, relationship, and leadership is a natural aspect of my temperament and Christian lifestyle. I opened a “dinners-to-go" home restaurant business called, Jenn’s Kitchen, in 2004. When people would pick up their food, they often opened up to me. I held their confidences with prayer and great regard and wrote my first cookbook. I then founded a ministry called, The Kawbod House, in Redding, California. It was an 8 intern, art/ music, prayer, and counseling studio and home. I knew I had found my life’s purpose. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in liberal studies for teaching, and have coursework in psychology, fine art, and became a licensed minister. Unexpected events led me to relocate to Salem, Oregon in 2015 with my wonderful family who were back in the States from being educators in China. I founded a grief garden and neighborhood children’s garden called, The Heart of the Garden. My creativity opened opportunities and community connections as I continued my education. I completed a Master’s Degree in Christian Counseling, and became an active member of the National Christian Counselors Association. I work with individuals and organizations to best formulate a counseling plan and work through their concerns and problems. I stand on my education, experience, and calling to help people heal and repair their lives. I believe that counseling is a worthwhile process with boundless benefits. In 2022 I began offering N.C.C.A.'s Christian Biblical Counseling services within the scope of clergy in the state of Oregon. My life’s purpose statement is found in this scripture: Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” My additional certifications include:
I reside with my husband Daniel in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. We have four grown children between us and love our family. I am an avid gardener, cook and play a fiddle that came across on a wagon train to Wallowa, OR in the mid 1800’s. Creativity has been my passion and resulted in successful small businesses and teaching fine art earlier on in my career. I enjoy entertaining and wowing guests with the beautiful family dishes passed down for generations made from local ingredients like chanterelle mushrooms, butter clams, Dungeness crab and sweet Walla Walla onions, just to name a few. For fun we like to hike, hang out with friends, travel and enjoy every sunset. |
